RJ HKG-BKK is unchanged at 60SC in J.

QR also offer some short-haul intra-Asia fares that could be good, e.g.

QR944/945 SIN-DPS J 60SC (I chose a random day in May and it quotes SGD$900)

One could also try QR on KUL-HKT, SGN-PNH, HAN-BKK

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

The CX ex-TPE runs still works to a certain degree. TPE-HKG is unchanged at 40SC, and then it depends on where you're actually going. MNL-HKG has been simplified to 40SC instead of 60, however. The conditions are also getting very restrictive, but it's still possible to get around 3.5SC per dollar (AUD) on some routes.

The CX ex-TPE runs still works to a certain degree. TPE-HKG is unchanged at 80SC, and then it depends on where you're actually going. MNL-HKG has been simplified to 40SC instead of 60, however. The conditions are also getting very restrictive, but it's still possible to get around 3.5SC per dollar (AUD) on some routes.

So you're talking about TPE-HKG *oneway* at 40SC, and MNL-HKG lowered to 40SC oneway?

Correct.

TPE-HKG is in the "all other flights - 251-500 miles" category that has 40SC for J. MNL-HKG is in the "all other flights - 501-750 miles" category, which also has 40SC for J. All numbers are for one-way.

Apart from the 80SC in your post, hence the question.

Depends on where you want to go from there, really. e.g. my normal run of TPE-HKG-SIN still brings the same 240 SC return after the changes, and can be done for $800 AUD, although I pay a bit more as I need to be able to have a stopover in HKG so strictly speaking, it's not really a hardcore status run for me as such. Basically, instead of looking for somewhere 600 miles away, it now needs to be 750 miles, and similarly for 1200 vs 1500 miles.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Your post says "TPE-HKG is unchanged at 80SC". But it's 40SC one-way. Hence your 240SC for TPE-HKG-SIN return (40-80-80-40).

It seems cough, I know, but that's kind of the point with these threads.

Oh dear. I only just realised what I typed.
Post updated.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

I'll give a hint. Same route but different carrier. Completely unsimplified and a lot better value.

There are plenty out there :)

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

I haven't posted on the main thread because frankly, stopped caring a while ago. Have been running many spreadsheets over the past week figuring out how to finish off LTG before and after simplification day (that sounds ever so appropriately genocidal) before abandoning the program.

Since people are talking about CX, a good starting point for the uninitiated might be here: A couple of decent Tier Points routes on Cathay Pacific - Points to be Made

Prices do vary, certainly not as good as GFC days. Meanwhile I've hinted to another option above. I'd rather not discuss on this forum however. The YUPP future looks a bit bleak between simplification and the US merger which appears to have resulted in some routing rule... simplification (oh god!).

If you're looking at oneworld the sweet spots are now probably 251-600 (except LOTFAP), 751-1200 and 1501-2400. For everyone's reference I'll post my table in QF IT format (JPEG). I assume others in the main thread have posted their own spreadsheets and tables, but lord help you if you tried using the QF calculator.

Terrific, thanks. "Simplification Day" - I nearly lost my coffee over that :D

I too gave up on the other thread and haven't bothered with the QF calculator. Your spreadsheet is all I need, thanks.

Might need to add a new tab to the AFF SS

That is a killer for the old LAX-NE USA-SJU AA run and the near parity SC per dollar. I haven't number crunched as yet but from my memory likely there would be deals less than $2 per SC (doubt that I will ever crack the 95 cent per SC that I did a couple of years ago).

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

All status runs now have to be done OS if I am reading it all correctly.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

Oh and totally for LOLs, last week I went through the oneworld planner

If you're thinking of benefiting from QF's oversight of the magical 3501-3600 mile window... your choices are as follows:

DOH-HAN (xBKK)
DOH-PNH (xSGN) - two infamous QR tag flights from last year
DOH-CMN (Casablanca)
LHR-PHL
LHR-YYZ
MIA-FOR
MAD-LAD (Luanda)
MAD-JFK
SCL-PUJ (Punta Cana)

Start looking for some JFK-LAD status runs. Introducing a fairer system for Angolan Qantas frequent flyers

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

In the USA, ORD becomes somewhat useful - so may BOS, although it's difficult to get cheaper fares via BOS.

i.e. First ORD-NyC earns 40 SC's, ORD-BOS earns 90.

Re: Best Status Run options after 1 July 2014

Am I reading this correct? Is this the new mileage chart that applies for AA flights within USA?

QF_AAEarn.JPG

I based it on a combination of these parts of the new Partner Airlines earning table from the Fairer Flying page...

qf_partnertable.JPG

If this is correct, here's a quick summary of some of the sectors which have decreased in SC earn under the changes...

How do you get a stopover in HKG post the changes?
