We've just contacted everyone who has purchased a ticket for this event so far with an important update about the venue.

Unfortunately, InterContinental Brisbane has informed us that they will be conducting renovation works during the time of this event, and that its event space will therefore be unavailable. We have therefore had to change to another nearby venue in the Brisbane CBD.

This event will now take place at voco Brisbane City Centre. All other details, including the MasterClass timings and sessions, remain the same.

voco Brisbane City Centre is an approximately 12-minute walk from InterContinental, located next to the Brisbane River.

We understand that the venue change may cause some inconvenience, especially to those of you who may have already booked accommodation at InterContinental, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, this change is out of our control and we had no choice but to change venues. The email we've sent includes some details about cancelling any existing hotel bookings, in case you may wish to do this.

The good news is that the MasterClass is still going ahead and we look forward to seeing you on 28 November at voco Brisbane City Centre!

Can someone confirm the F/F Masterclass in Brisbane is being held at Intercontinental Hotel??? I just tried to make a reservation there and they said there is no conference booked at their hotel that date???
PS I assume there is only one Intercontinental Hotel in BNE. The one I rang was at 190 Elizabeth St.

So IC knew about the renovation (planned, proposed, or otherwise) back in July, but kept quiet? That's definitely a poor look.

They would have known that renovations were being planned, but I don't think they had finalised the dates yet. Either way, they (obviously) did not advise us that the space would be unavailable when we booked in with them back in June.

I will be attending.

Flying up on Sat am from Syd on VA 917 at 0800 if any attendees on same flight :)
Leaving Sun on VA 954 at 205pm
Overnight at Hotel Indigo, 2 min walk from venue.

For anyone who hasn't got their ticket yet, a $50 discount is available until Thursday, 5 November. Use the coupon code AFF50 at the checkout.

For any AFF Platinum members, don't forget that the special Platinum price of $179 is also available. The code for this is in the email you should have received when we announced the Brisbane MasterClass - if you didn't get this email and are a Platinum member, please send a private message to this account.

I’ve received confirmation for the masterclass on 28 November. I’ve already watched quite a few YouTube videos and learned a great deal, so I’m really looking forward to attending it in person for the first time.

Flights

28th VA913 SYD-BNE 7:30 am–8:00 am
29th VA946 BNE-SYD 12:05 pm–2:40 pm

Both flights are in Economy and cost around A$105 each way without checked baggage. I’ll have VA lounge access through my American Express Velocity Platinum Card.

Hotel

W Brisbane, booked through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts.

Total cost: US$349.05
Less US$300 semi-annual FHR credit from my U.S. Amex Platinum Card
Net cost: US$49.05

The booking also includes a US$100 hotel credit and breakfast for two, which should be more than enough for a one-night stay.

Overall, it looks like a very good value short trip for the masterclass.
From 1 January 2027, prepaid FHR bookings for US AMEX Platinum Card will require a minimum two-night stay to qualify for the US Amex Platinum’s US$300 semi-annual hotel credit, up from the current one-night minimum.

W Brisbane for this MasterClass will be my last one-night FHR stay using the credit under the old rules. One final stay to mark the end of an era.

Credit card benefits are changing so quickly, both in the US and here in Australia. That’s another good reason to attend this MasterClass and stay up to date with the latest changes.
