SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

My constant searching of saver J seats for next December... Used to be able to easily find 3 J seats on various flights, but now it really seems to be 2 x savers at best :(

This is even checking the moment they are released,. and on some days just none at all..... Only Advantage and Access........

Outbound from Australia in a fair swathe of December, SQ probably has little difficulty filling the J cabin.

Great if previously you could find such Saver awards but given the demand for international travel and consequent high seat occupancy percentages, I'm not surprised it's getting harder. If interest rates start rising in February 2026 as economists from NAB are predicting, this may eventually crimp demand a bit, but Australians appear to be prioritising travel compared to other avenues of possible spending.

Apropos demand - and tangential to award avails - I did a quick compare of flts HBA mid Apr 26 , return from LHR late May shows a rough av price of $13k for J on specific dates .Don’t @ me about cheaper alterns, no doubt there are, but I just looked at the majors like SQ QF EK CZ etc. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a higher level of J fares.

Clonakillka's O'Riada shiraz has been served in F/Suites for some time (tho served too young imho) and now the winery has announced :

... the biggest single sale we have ever made. It was to Singapore Airlines; a purchase of a significant quantity of Hilltops Shiraz to serve in business class. A great honour for us, and, we hope, a thoroughly tasty experience for thousands of business travellers on that fine airline.

So there's something to look fwd to!

Seems a very long bow to draw. My theory about Qantas psychology is more on the money: they make their int J jounges at home ports so bad in comparison to their First lounges that pax are desperate to fly MORE with QF to qualify WP and access the Flounges.

And remember that on at least some routes, the first day of availability is only at Advantage/Access levels, so if people have points to shed, they might pick up seats before the full allocation is determined for the "all categories open" release.

Menu from SQ345. Was the only pax in F (again).
I don’t bother with BTC on routes to SIN, just choose from the onboard menu. It’s the second time this year that I’m trying a traditional Swiss main on this route and can’t say I’d recommend. At least the entrees were good as well as the breakfast. Extra serve of caviar is always appreciated, the perfect mid flight snack 🙂 SQ offer unisex amenity kits on routes to SIN which are ok but not as nice as his/hers kits offered ex SIN. Was expecting to drink Cristal champagne on this route but Krug was loaded instead, no complaints here 🍾
