CZ moved into the new terminal 2 at CAN on 19 May. I recently flew MEL-CAN-PVG and return NKG-CAN-MEL, having flown through the old terminal a handful of times in recent years. Terminal 2 is a pleasant experience compared to the old. Strangely while there is a security check when arriving in CAN before walking to the domestic boarding gates there is no security check when arriving from a domestic flight and proceeding to the international gates (of course there is still customs and passport control in both directions). I presume they rely on security before boarding the domestic flight on the outward leg but don't trust security checks overseas.
One thing that Chinese security checks seem paranoid about is power banks. To avoid any difficulties make sure that any power banks are clearly labelled as to their capacity (must be less than 10000 mAh)
The new terminal also has plenty of seating while waiting to board compared to the old terminal. Also the number of planes boarding remotely using buses has been greatly reduced. I can still remember the old terminal boarding a MEL bound flight via bus for a full A330 load of passengers
