The 2015 AFL Grand Final will this year be held on Saturday October 3. As a follow up to the fabulous post game function we had in 2014 might I propose we duplicate that event again this year?

Post game drinks commencing 18:00 at Royce Hotel, 379 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne - Home | Royce Hotel, Melbourne. Designer five-star boutique hotel followed by dinner at 20:00 at The Olive Tree, 19 Park St, South Melbourne - Restaurants, Italian Restaurant, Steak House, Steakhouse, South Melbourne, Albert Park, Port Melbourne, Middle Park, St Kilda, South Yarra.

Whilst I understand very early notice I just thought it best to claim the date - open to all and sundry - even Collingwood supporters and Uber X riders - hope to see as many as poss on the evening.

How about St Kilda supporters? And Manly Sea Eagles supporters?
No problem with Sainters - theyse good dudes - Manly? No way - Storm rulz - regardless of how much the powers in Sydney work their coughs off to stifle everything involving Storm.

Subscribing to keep in the loop - if the Swans make it into the GF I'll definitely be in town. I may well head south anyway to get away from the NRL GF crowd in Sydney :p

Naturally I shall attend this event again :p

So, is it true there is a public holiday in Melbourne around the time of the AFL grand final this year.
Rumour has it YES - first action of that wing nutted imbecile was to declare an extra public holiday - funny thing - I am yet to speak to anybody who thinks this is a good idea - what an embarrassment.

We have flights booked for the grand final. We get cheap grand final tickets if it is Dockers vs West Coast.
I hope we can catch up with you at the Royce and Olive Tree as well CE.

If its Weagles V Dockers there will be plenty tix available for everybody. As for Royce and Olive Tree Cove it is a monty - same plan as last year - why change something that aint broke?

I'm just glad I got in a booked accom as soon as I found out the GF was definitely the October long weekend! Managed to get two cancellable rooms at the Doubletree on Flinders (old Citigate) for three nights for under $600/room. Got stung last year by booking during finals... the Swans performance was simply salt in the wound!

It really does ruin that "one day in September" when the day is October...

It does seem a bit strange. Guess we can thank early Easter and the Cricket World Cup for that one. While I don't much care for NRL (aside from a long-standing soft spot for the Bunnies), I don't understand why you would put the two biggest footy games of the year on the same weekend.

Just paid my membership renewal. Looking forward to my second GF in October
