Checked in here yesterday after our trip from BNE.At checkin taken straight around to the Exec lounge which is on the same floor-the Westin is floors 26-37 of an office block.
Checkin was a breeze. We arrived at midday and not surprisingly the room wasn't ready.Profuse apologies and told it would be ready in 15 minutes.Told to have a drink in the lounge-beer available in the fridge all day, wine only comes out at 1800.Less than 10 minutes later we are escorted to our room-a larger corner room. There are only 4 standard suites so suite upgrades here I knew were rare.
The room though is very comfortable and looks great-

The full length windows give you views over Sendai. The Exec lounge is on the opposite side of the building so we can enjoy a complete view of Sendai. From our bathroom-

And from our bedroom-

Afternoon tea in the Exec lounge is 3-5 and they serve some biscuits, scones with Beerenberg jams and half of the snacks that come out at Happy hour from 6-8pm.Our 2 lounge visits so far only 1 other couple present each time.

Looks great!
One thing you know you will always get at Westin - the heavenly bed, it's the best!
Are you there for business or pleasure? I'm asking because I know nothing about Sendai and was wondering if it's worth going there as part of a Japan trip.

We are definitely here for pleasure.I feel it is worth it though today the weather was really nasty in the afternoon precluding any sightseeing.
So some more of the room with a couple more shots of the bathroom-

And the executive lounge-

Plus the views from the lounge-

And they have a fantastic exec lounge manager/concierge in Naohiko Wako.A member of Les Clefs d'or and worth his weight in gold.Asks us what we are doing the next day and comes back with a map in English or with his translations, how to get there, restaurant suggestions etc.Incredible service.Worth coming for this alone.

The lounge offerings.First the evening snacks-

So a very enjoyable stay.A modern hotel with excellent service.Staff are all good but as I have mentioned the Concierge is excellent.
I can now answer boomy's question-if you like Japan Sendai should be on your bucket list.Easy to get around.Flat so you can walk all of the CBD.And a day out to Matsushima Bay is definitely worth it.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Cheers drron, I would now definitely consider adding Sendai to my Japan itinerary I'm planning for next year and as SPG platinum the Westin will be a good choice :)
