Concierge staff in the airline’s Upper Class Wing will be using Google Glass and other wearable technology as part of a six week pilot scheme in an industry first.

Staff will use the Glass google to update passengers on their latest flight information, weather and local events at their destination and translate any foreign language information.

In the future, the technology could also tell airline staff their passengers’ dietary and refreshment preferences.

But nothing will ever beat just reading a cheat sheet about your customer back of house and remembering it all, instead of relying on technology :p

Sort of like how it feels better to get a greeting onboard QF if they're not reading off the manifest/iPad. Feels more professional. Granted this is very unobtrusive.

I think google glass will beat it, its just not about names if you actually read the article, its updated connection info etc.

This @ symbol at the front of thread titles, does that relate to Twitter somehow? It seems to create an unnecesary hurdle with searches. For example, searching for "Virgin+Atlantic" doesn't return this thread; only "virginatlantic" does, which I wouldn't think would be how most people search.

I mentioned it in the off-Topic thread. Seems this trend is quite popular with a few people who use Twitter.

Virgin Atlantic (Virgin culture it seems) will start something tech then end it before rolling it out.

Without knowing the cost, will it add value to the bottom line, when when will the payback be?

I thought it must be Twitter.

It's a shame it makes the search function useless. The last thing we need, in my opinion, is more threads on existing topics.
