I can see some threads, but will ask again.

I am looking at PE from SYD to NYC. Currently Virgin is approx $500 cheaper return. I have experienced QF PE and think it is a very good product. Thoughts on whether we should use Virgin at that price and also the quality of the LAX - NYC leg on Virgin America's "Main Cabin Select". I would accrue any Virgin points on SQ, so that is not a major consideration.

VA product SYD-LAX is very good. I have not flown QF PE but have seen it from J looks comparable I didn't see any stand out difference. I Have flow VS from LAX-NYC in MCS we opted for row 3 which is similar to row 3 here. Hope that helps. Enjoy NYC!!!

QF's Premium seat is much nicer than VA's IMHO. QF's Food and Beverage offering was better last time I took it, but VA's isn't bad either (It is Economy Plus though not Business Light).

That said, if you look at ex-NZ fares (say AKL-SYD-LAX) on VA, you're going to be looking at around $2500NZD. Tack on a Y seat to/from AKL, and it'll likely be a lot cheaper than VA or QF (even adding on a VX MCE seat).

If it was a 'money no issue' situation, i'd be on QF all the way. MCE is just some extra leg room, in a Y seat (Bulk head front row, or exit row on VX), with included food and beverage.

I've flown both and I reckon both products are on par (one might be a tad better in one thing, but the other product better in another). I'd go for the cheaper product.

I have not flown with VAermica, but I hear it is much better than AA. Of course QF is better than any domestic carrier in the US.

You can fly QF all the way to JFK though which is better than both VX or AA.

True; if you fly QF metal all the way to NY (via LA), then QF is better. Just make sure you don't choose flights on AA (or other airlines) metal.

I fly a lot of AA and I don't mind the travel, maybe I'm just lucky, so if not traveling all way on QF then I would not think you are losing IMO
Actually had worse Dom flights in OZ

Can't comment on PE, but have experienced MCS on VX JFK-Lax and yes agree with going for row 3. You can call up VX and request seats. Included food, and extra legroom (actually more than row 3 on VA dom).
