Was on EK413 from AKL to SYD last night on a Qantas booked flight and got to see the Emirates lounge there for the first time.

Compared to both the QC and QF 1st Lounge in AKL its very impressive.

Great food options and great wine and champagne.

Only issue is its very crowded with a BNE, MEL and SYD (all A380) flights leaving around the same time.

Very impressed.

The QF F lounge is a bit of a joke. AKL is hardly a major hub for QF these days. Then again other than Sydney, nowhere really is :(

Hah, should have said hello last night! I was on EK406 last night. We popped into the QF lounge, did a quick tour and left after 2 minutes. Popped into the EK lounge and it makes Qantas' effort in Auckland look like child's play. Yes it was slightly crowded but didn't see anyone standing and there were still some spare seats. The food and drinks were topped up quite attentively and the decor was very nice and delightfully consistent with their lounges around the world as well as their aircraft!

Had a very similar sentiment when comparing EK and QF lounges in BKK a couple of months ago.

Thanks for your views, having been to the QF lounge in AKL numerous times, I've always been intrigued as to the lounge immediately to the right on the top of those escalators in AKL.

So correct me if I'm wrong, one would need to be travelling on an EK code to gain access, QF code would not get you in ?

Never quite got my head around the lounge rules for QF/EK in N.Z.

I am flying on the QF321 / LA800 code share next month (after overnight in AKL). I have MPGold and Priority pass and the reviews seem to describe the QF lounge as pretty poor but the Emperor Lounge (priority pass) as being pretty good and much quieter.

Thoughts? In truth I will probably try both.

Your reading is correct, the Emperor Lounge is the better of the two. It is important to note that the Emperor lounge is the ex EK lounge and done in EK style, before EK over time moved to their now current lounge that is 6 times larger. While the Emperor Lounge is not as big as the QF lounge, it is in my experience the quieter of the two, and has overall better everything. It is also closer, with the rest of the lounges up the escalator.

If I'm on EK flight with a QF code as a Q gold FF can I access the EK lounge or only the QF one

thanks markis - appreciate your knowledge :)

is that still the case?
on la 800/la 801 with access to both emperor and QP - which would be the better one?
thanks for your opinions!

Something the EK lounge dragons were more than happy to point out to me last time i was there. As it was i used the QP because the EK lounge was too crowded - too many a380's at the same time (or too many QFF's having a squiz)
