Re: Qantas HK Lounge

I've stayed at the Langham Place Mongkok in a suite before - it's a very, very nice property. No issues with the location, really, unless you plan on spending a lot of time on HK island... and even then, the MTR is right beneath you as Pushka says. The adjoining mall and nearby markets and malls for IT are great for a bit of wallet-lightening!

Cheers.

Was it on the Mr Lover lover package :D

Re: Qantas HK Lounge

I still fail to understand why anyone would want to stay in Mong Kok area. yes, its interesting to visit, but really easy to reach via MTR. But it hold not attraction whatsever for me to stay there. There are so many other places in and around HK that I find so much more attractive to stay.

I think you missed the bit where we said that Langham Place Hotel was the catch, and not MongKok. If the LHP was in Central, I would therefore be staying in Central. It is the Hotel - services and staff; that is the main prize and the location is completely ameliorated by the large Mall next door, proximity to Ladies market; and the MTR to get you wherever you want to go to.

Why yes, I believe it may have been! That, or some kind of a 'Suite Deal' or 'Suite Surprise'... whatever it was, it was a hell of a lot cheaper than a suite at the Peninsula TST, covering somewhat NM's question on 'why Mongkok...'. Generally, though, I stay at TST or Causeway Bay.

Love Langham Place.

Stunning property in a surprising location.

A bit of a HKG fave.

Enjoy that! Check out the freezer in your fridge. :) I'm going to be there in early April and yes, in a Club room.

Cant say I have seen a freezer in the fridge when I arrived, the club is good and the people have been great for the few hours that I have been in the hotel

it was close to a HSBC that I needed to visit last year to open up some accounts, and had been a long time since I was last in HK

Maybe FuzzyAUS loves horse racing?!

Not fussed really, would be good to go, but would be a one off, I am back in March so I need to organise tickets for the sevens as that is more my interest, have wanted to do it for years and it's on the bucket list

The CP is not bad, and it's not that far to walk into CWB.

Although when I'm thinking about booking the CP, I usually end up in the HIX a few mins away - perfect if you just need a bed to crash on, or if you're planning on some major haulage from Time Square.

The freezer is the tiny upper portion of the fridge. Should be some nice ice cream inside.

When I was living in HK, I found that using the buses was actually a bit more efficient than the MTR, the walks into and out of the MTR stations can take a lot of time, whereas the buses are right at street level, and from Mongkok, the buses can go direct down Nathan Rd, or some will even go under the Harbour and onto HK Island.

Langham Place Mongkok for us every time ...... Unless specific business on the Island ..........we have stayed 8 times now both for work and play and it has never missed a beat - We always go Club room ........and get the car service to and from Chek Lap Kok as I have never been impressed by the way the H.K. taxi jockeys load luggage into their small boots ......... One dodgy 'ocky strap' stretch to much and SWMBO would be having me on toast as murphy's law would dictate that it was most certainly be something like her favourite Burberry bag or alike that went skidding down the motorway at a rate of knots .........

MTR / Sport street / electronic stuff etc. to the east ..... Wet markets etc. to west side of the property ........

And as someone with 30+ years in the Tier 1 Construction Industry ..... a short walk through the Hardware and Plumbing supplies area to North was dam educational.... if nothing else ..........

Just watch out for the traffic though. It can be very bad sometimes. The shortest way from Jordan to CWB was to get the bus that takes the main tunnel crossing, which is only about 4 stops. Last time, it took me almost an hour. If I took the MTR, and changed at Central, it would've been 30 minutes or less.

Agreed - particularly through Mong Kok and Nathan Rd there are often traffic jams where you see dozen of buses piled up. The MTR runs like clockwork (hint: try not always following the signage directions when walking in and out of stations as they are setup to maximise how much retail space you pass, there are often quicker ways by ignoring signage - Central is a good example)

I am in a Chuan Spa room, no freezer in the fridge, I would likely recommend a normal club room, as the futon mattress bed is hard/lumpy for someone used to a pillow top!!!

I will certainly stay here again and the L club is great, will look to stay here when I am back in March, but depends where the rugby sevens are (I haven't looked yet, and am out posting this from my phone)

Reading this has just inspired me to book a room at the Langham Place Mongkok for June when I need to be there on a personal matter.
A Club Studio Place ... so hopefully I've picked the right room and have a bed vs futon.
