Does anyone know if QFF are strict with the 15% use of purchased points max for an award fare? I've got 58,800 points...looking to book 2 x PER-SYD (72,000 points)...14,000 points will cost $437...but will get us business class for the 1st time :). However 15% max used would be only 10,800 purchased..so about 2500 short...will they let me do it?

They are strict, and purchasing points is poor value, have you looked at Epiqure?

Eg a new member can sign up for $59 (using a discount code), and buy 4 dozen of these for just over $800, earning 10000 points for the first and fourth dozen ordered by member, 10000 bonus points and 2400 for the actual purchase, so 22400 odd!

I do like the QFF point sales with bonus wine. ;)

Something like this would be perfect to get us over the line...only 2 things...the flights are in january...so i'd be cutting it fine to get the points in time....and we both dont drink :)...other than that...it would be perfect...could even use them as xmas gifts...but the 6 weeks they say id have to wait would be too long :(

Anything else i could buy that would get me the points needed and quickly?

12400 points would post in a matter of days, and often the bonus points in 4 weeks max.

I took my first domestic J leg with QF a few months ago and I thought it was a waste of points to fly MEL-PER in J tbh...
My thoughts exactly.

I can understand some people would be interested. But why the rush to buy the points?

John, some people have a bucket list, for which a flight in a higher class may be on the list. It isn't anyone's business apart from theirs as to how they spend their points.

Is SYD-PER in business that important?

Never flown business before....and we fly PER-SYD stay overnight then SYD-HNL (cannot get any business class seats)...so at least the 1st part of our trip will be a bit different :) Its not that important...but would be a nice way to start off our holiday :)

The rush is because we have to book the flights for 18/01...and thats not too far away. If we don't get enough points...not a problem...already booked in economy with virgin.

Go for it blackjack - just because there are some who try and shoot your ideas down with negativity - it doesn't mean you should abandon the idea.

I think Virgin J might me better than the A330 J experience I had on the coast-coast route.

I agree with JohnK on this one but do find it hilarious that it is the same person arguing this that carried on like a pork chop for days because some Virgin upgrade wasn't "true business class".

?? Sorry i think you have me confused with someone else? I've never flown business :)
