No water on QF1.
Just got off QF1 in DXB and it was a bit of a nightmare
Late leaving SYD 18:15 due to technical problems ( water not working). After first meal service the water failed completely.
Nightmare for the crew, flushing toilets with bottles of Mount Franklin.
No second meal service due to no water in galley.
I was in J but can only imagine what it must have been like down the back of the bus.
On arrival in DXB bottles of water were provided and vouchers being handed out to Y transit passengers for food.
I'm safely in the EK F Lounge and the next flight is supposed to depart at 04:50 if they manage to fix the problem.
Does anyone know if there is any Qantas service desk in DXB?
I have a flight to GLA on BA separate ticket which I won't make and wondered if the QF staff could help me to re-book it now?

Sounds pretty horrid. I hope the rest of your journey improves.

That sounds horrific. I feel sorry for the crew. At least you made it but!

Oh wow, that's a shocker. Feel sorry for the crew as well as the passengers...that would not be fun at all.

Hope you get where you need to be.

Sounds like a hellish flight...I suspect you will have to plead your case at the BA desk at LHR. Can you call Ba from Dxb? Good luck!

can't undo what's been done, so moving forward hopefully a nice compensation package!

There is a BA lounge in Terminal 1, not sure if they would help?

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

How far in (timewise) did the water fail?

I wonder what is considered big enough of an issue to divert a plane and land at the closest airport?
If the water failed only 2 hours into 10 hour flight I would expect the plane to divert and land somewhere to fix the issue.
Letting passengers fly for 10 hours with no water is pretty poor and a health/hygiene issue that's for sure.

Hope you're not delayed too much longer. Let us know how it gets on.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

I guess we need to understand exactly what happened. but I cannot understand, from a hygiene point of view, how an aircraft with that many pax could continue without water to wash hands after the WC, or changing baby, or to flush toilets.

first impressions would perhaps have suggested the flight divert to SIN for repairs.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Perhaps it is a coincidence but I wonder if that was the same aircraft that I flew into Sydney on yesterday morning as QF2. We were delayed out of London because the water pumps were not working. Then half way between DXB and Sydney they failed again and there was no water available to galleys or toilets. If it was the same plane, there seems to be a real issue with the water system that is not being addressed between flights.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Leaving a flippant comment until now, when I trust Princess Fiona has had her particular issue resolved (couldn't help on that one).

Hand sanitizer - gin?

Liberal use of Champagne in F ?

I too am a bit surprised at the lack of diversion, as it appears the issue occurred even within Australian air space (after first meal service). Even if no short term engineering solution, due to previous investigations, it would have only meant maybe 30 or so minutes on the ground to load many extra water bottles to better mitigate the situation for the rest of the flight.

Would have cost Qantas, though.

Its the same plane - OQF

Thought Expert Flyer would let us know that, but couldn't find the rego numbers. Anyone else?

EDIT: I knew markis 10 would have it!

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

They should keep it on the ground in DXB to fix it properly and put everyone on EK/QF codeshare planes to LHR.

Its on its way to LHR, I actually moved the OP and subsequent posts to its own thread as I thought more attention was needed.

Eeek! I'm on that flight next Saturday.....hope it gets fixed before then!
