Stupid question probably. Read the info online, but just checking: flying premium economy from Melbourne to Nadi on VA.
Am I correct that even as a Platinum member I won't have access to the lounge? Since "Pacific Islands" are excluded from lounge access?
It is a VA flight number; I just assumed lounge access at Melbourne would be a given. Maybe not?
Pretty confusing and if this is the case: WTH??

You will have access to the NZ lounge in Melbourne.

Are there still Pacific Blue B737-800s knocking around with the PE seating at the front when flying to Fiji from Australia?

Apparently there are....
Doesn't say business, only premium economy.
In reply to the previous answer. This is what the website states:

Guests travelling in Premium Economy on Virgin Australia Trans Tasman flights and applicable connecting flights are invited to use Air New Zealand Koru or the Virgin Australia lounge.
Note: Lounge access is not permitted in conjunction with flights to the Pacific Islands, Bali, coughet or Port Moresby.

Only in NZ, changes for Australia a while ago:

Thank you...From the website it wasn't clear. Maybe it is different for Velocity Platinum members (lounge access) and when flying PE it won't be applicable.

The ZK-PB* fleet are staying in there current Y/PE config, all they did was change the seat covers and add the foward bulkhead in front of 1ABC

I am just interested in why the OP chose Pacific Blue in the first place - I looked a random bunch of days for flights next month and the Fiji Airways proper J class was about $1750 return and the Pacific Blue PE Fares were coming in at $1600 return (direct flights MEL-NAN to compare apples with apples) so in this case I hope the OP checked out the price of the competition before booking what he did! Either way - you cop a lousy B737-800 given the choice I would be choosing the J class seats on the FJ myself... and the better seat pitch, food, drinks and lounge access etc
:)
(by the way the QF J fares were $1811 so are not out of the ball park either).

I am assuming that the OP got a fairly good deal on the Pacific Blue PE tickets....

Booked a flexi, which was still cheap and the most competitive rate and used only a small number of points to upgrade. So it is good to me.
Did shop around for good deals. So you are right.
