Anyone know anymore about TG679 crash landing at BKK?

Random pic showed up on my fb timeline with some Thai subtitles....

The photo in today's SMH seems to suggest that the Thai name and logo have been painted over overnight. Is this standard procedure?

Maybe not standard procedure, but certainly its common procedure in such circumstances. naturally, the rest of the aircraft livery still makes it pretty obvious to which operator it belongs.

Why wouldn't you just spray paint the whole thing - still pretty obvious to most who it belongs to...

It's a shame Asiana didn't employ the same practice at SFO.

I wouldn't think it would be particularly obvious to lay flyers.

I suppose if you weren't a regular flyer or didn't pay attention to airlines people might not know the colours in the media pictures

So it would seem, for Star Alliance at least, according to this report.

Thai airways plane skids off runway injuring 13...and then the airline blacks out their logo - Asia - World - The Independent

The decision to black out the name of the airline was in accordance with Star Alliance network guidance on emergency management, but the move drew criticism and ridicule on social media.

Thai Airways official Smud Poom-On said that "blurring the logo" after an accident was a recommendation from Star Alliance known as the "crisis communication rule," meant to protect the image of both the airline and other members of Star Alliance.

No News showed a photo of a Thai A380...I thought it was an A380 that had the accident!!.....but the caption states "A Thai Airways Airbus, similar to this A380, has skidded off the runway at Bangkok, injuring 14."

I really wouldn't consider the A330 and A380 similar (especially looking at them!)....unless you mean both are Airbus and both passenger jet planes! Makes me wonder what other inaccuracies appear in articles about subjects I know nothing about...I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

That'd be a lot of paint!

Then again it seems others have managed it (on a smaller aircraft).

There's a news article generator someone else will link to highlighting just how easy it is to mix things up :p

Smud Poom-On - great name for a corporate spokesman. Also probably the sound effect when the nosewheel collapsed......

Any reason why an aircraft operated by the Italian flag carrier is registered in Romania? But then again there are QF aircraft registered in NZ...
