I think this thread should be closed off and another started regarding booking mASA's.
I think this thread should be closed off and another started regarding booking mASA's.
If that happens, the new thread really needs to stop referring to them as mASA's, as the call centre have no idea what that means.
Would someone remind me why we call it a MASA, please? I thought that using this term was supposed to be confusing for the CSR and was meant to be avoided.
An 8 sector Any Seat Award? No wonder these are up for review!I just finished a booking involving 8 sectors. Straight up the CSO said "You are wanting to book into Uniform class aren't you?". One of the easiest bookings I've ever done on the phone for any type of fare (with all credit to the CSO).

Just out of interest how many 8 sector paid bookings have you booked?
My suggestion is a "success" reporting thread with only travel details (starting airport / connecting airport / destination airport), points paid & Cash spent, this would then empower all AFF members to have some "idea" what the rough costs should be, would be very useful for future bookings... Mod's would need to keep it to a pure form of the above...
What do we think...?
Any Mods want to start the thread or comment...?

Sigh, WHY did you put "marginal" in the title when this is the one term that almost guarantees failure when trying to book? Seriously, people...
Red Roo has also commented & suggested the following:
- As Classic Awards can still be viewed online by selecting “Show Classic Awards Only” on the booking screen, you may wish to identify availability options prior to calling 1300 366 587 to minimise your time on the phone.
- When calling, simply ask for a “Classic Award booked as an Any Seat Award”. We are continuing to educate agents to recognise that terminology and to be more comfortable with the booking process.
- While the relevant pages on qantas.com will be updated soon, I would like to give AFF members a heads up that the dedicated number to book a Classic Award as an Any Seat Award (1300 366 587) is now available 24/7. Hope this goes towards making the booking process more convenient.
Actually it was 2x 4 sector bookings combined to make up a pretty standard SC run: SYD-TSV-SYD & TSV-ADL-TSV (with them all going via BNE).
Just out of interest what was the cost in points and cash co-payment?
And now compare that to the red e-deal airfares for the same flights?
After speaking with Stephanie at the lunch where I asked her the real reason as to why (knowing that "technical" issues is simply a smokescreen) she gave the answer of, yes it might (is - but I'm an IT guru who has worked on booking engines in the past, and spend my days manipulating large amounts of data) be possible to include mASA's in to the new booking engine, but they couldn't justify the costs in doing so given it's a product which few outside the AFF sphere use, and ultimately is not a great product as far as QF is concerned as there is no profit margin on them. (aka a shortcut to status).
So whilst I would love JASA's to still be easily booked via the websites, I can understand business considerations around not spending big dollars building a feature into your website which undercuts your other products.
