Malaysia Airlines are planning to add a 3rd daily flight between KUL and SYD starting in Feb 2014.
Proposed schedule is:
KUL-SYD
MH 141 KUL 0900 - 2015 SYD 333 D
MH 143 KUL 1925 - 0640+1 SYD 333/772 D
MH 123 KUL 2250 - 1005+1 SYD 333 D

SYD-KUL
MH 142 SYD 0850 - 1415 KUL 333/772 D
MH 122 SYD 1530 - 2055 KUL 333 D
MH 140 SYD 2155 - 0320+1 KUL 333 D

New flights start Feb 3 using B777-200 for first 2 days then it changes to the new A330-300.

Is the 772 j product still the slopey-beds?

Pre-emptive strike against Air Asia X who is not even a daily service.
or has MH seen business jump that much since it joined oneworld, despite the horrible points earning table for QFFers

Interestingly would make KUL 3.5x daily versus 7x for SIN and 5x for HKG.

777s are being retired so they wont be around too much longer.

B777-200s will be around for several more years as the planned replacement for them will either be the A350-900/1000 or B787-9/10 and they haven't even placed orders for them yet, which means MH won't get them until at least 2018! They are planning to retire most of the B777 but they will have to keep some for their flights to AMS, FRA, AKL and LAX as the new A330-300s don't have the range. However, there is a rumour that MH are planning to refurbish the few B777 that they plan on keeping to the same standard as the A380.

Fantastic News. I see myself traveling to KUL a fair bit next year. Our work policy may switch from J to Y (which is a bad thing :sad face:) but this also means that the cost of travel will be almost insignificant, and therefore more trips can be made!

Some decent timings too.

A bit of slap in the face to QF , who haven't even got 1 flight to KL. Out of touch.... I think so.

Not even a code-share (not including the one with EK between MEL and KUL)!

Since the mASA decision by QF, it made me review routes.
Usually I was happy to make a single hop to use QF. But now I've moved to CX for HK & China & MH for Malaysia.

I like the MH schedules and this extra flight will help cement me further with them. Like any airline they are not perfect, but the positives out weight the negatives by far. They seem to honor all OWE privileges as well.

I must admit, I don't know what their Y product is like. Love their Satay.

Have now taken several MH flights and each one from SYD return has been 100% in J.

I haven't tried the Y product on their new A330-300s or A380s either. The satay is just wonderful and made even better by the fact that you're having it with the brilliant sauce at 35000ft in the air!!

I can't wait til the 3rd flight is on the website for booking. The early morning departure means you can connect with domestic flights and regional flights and arrive at your destination at a reasonable hour.

Confirmed: Malaysia Airlines to boost Kuala Lumpur-Sydney services, moving to 18 weekly from 21 Nov & to triple daily on 05 Feb 2013

Good move starting the 3rd daily service earlier to catch the school holiday traffic.

And QF's Asian strategy doesn't include KL.... I just shake my head in disbelief.

Yes it does, I am enjoying my 3K connections for $20 including the plus pack and "chicken" sandwich from SIN LOL
