LAN Argentina evicted from Buenos Aires

Aerolineas should suffer the consequences if this is allowed. While they are perhaps not party to what's taking place, they certainly shouldn't benefit because their main competitor has been taken out. That said, doubt anyone will notice and I can't see other nations blocking them, but they do have 7 routes into Brazil and 1 into Chile that they might like to keep? They have 2 routes into the US, and that nation loves getting into others conflicts... :p

It's 51% owned by Argentine investors anyway, so he's screwing over his own people, to save a government owned company.

Sorry samh004, I will notice...I am due to fly IGR-AEP in a few weeks on LAN Argentina.

Do we have any AFFers who are resident in South America who could keep an eye on this story and if anything major develops let us know. Thanks

I meant any nation, any person, other than those involved. My mum is in South America in September and think she might have some flights affected too.

No problems sam, I know what you meant. I also am there in September. I have sent off an email to my TA who is the South American Tourist Office and whom have closer than usual links within South America (or so i'm led to believe) asking for more info and whether or not there will be any impact on my travel. If he has any bad news I will pass it onto you for your mothers sake.

You're not by chance there for the IAML Annual Meeting are you?

Just what Argentina wants to do, p¡ss off a bunch of lawyers! :p

So just seems to be a protection move by the Government. Doesn't argue well for foreign investment in Argentina.
