Hi All

Recently my partner and I headed to Hong Kong for a couple of days holiday. We purchased the fares for a great price in the Qantas asia sale.

The price was the same for either bne-hkg-bne direct or doing bne-syd-hkg-bne so I booked using the indirect routing with the added incentive of some extra status credits and the chance to fly an a380 on syd-hkg.

1 week before the trip I ended up needing to goto a few meetings in Hong Kong so flights were moved to be a day earlier - great for an extra night in Hong Kong but unfortunately I missed out on the A380 and instead flew on a 747.

We were very lucky on this trip - the upgrade gods must have been smiling on us - we scored 2 upgrades - to Y+ on the SYD-HKG leg and to J on HKG-BNE. I can't remember the last time Qantas had given me an upgrade but we scored 2 in the space of 6 days - pretty remarkable!

So far I have written up the first two parts of the trip on my blog:
BNE-SYD at QF551 Brisbane (BNE) to Sydney (SYD) | travel bloggings
and
SYD-HKG at QF127 Sydney (SYD) to Hong Kong (HKG) | travel bloggings

Will post the HKG-BNE leg soon :)

Both op-ups
SYD-HKG at T-24 when I did online check in and
HKG-BNE at the gate as we were boarding

It's nice to get upgraded once on your trip, but when it happens twice its awesome!!

Same thing happened to me & missus earlier this year:
MEL-SIN Y to Y+
SIN-MEL Y to J
