From The Age, and reported on various other media:

Up to 100 new jobs will be created with Jetstar maintenance and training facilities for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to be based in Melbourne.

A 787 flight simulator is among equipment that will be installed at the Qantas Group's Airport West training centre as part of a $100 million investment.

I hope JQ is paying for all of this........

They should pay a share, but QF will need 787 pilots too. I'm thinking there will be an announcement soon on the conversion into definite deliveries of the options on QF aircraft for 2016 delivery.

Well, JQ is owned by the QF group, if their profits go back to the group, then the group should pay for their facilities ;)
As long as it is accounted for on JQ's balance sheet, as opposed to QF, just to make JQ look good.

JQ is (in the QF group of companies) like that "friend" who never seems to pay for dinner or drinks but is always telling you about the great deals and discounts they got recently.

JQ, "Man, you should see the slick new 788s I'm getting, the fuel burn rate on them is amazeballs!"
QFi, "Really, how come I just paid for 787 training facilities? I swear next time you're buying the A330 refits... next time."

JQ: That's ok, look I'll give you back your A330's if it makes you feel any better. I don't need them anymore now I have my 788's

Interesting move by JQ and QF. I wonder if this a planned move to further jetstarise the QF workforce after the job losses in heavy maintenance at MEL

JQ: PS That annoying check engine light has been on for a while. You might need to give the A330s a quick D check before you can use them on any services. I was going to do it, but I'm sure you will do a much better job.
