3401.0 - Overseas Arrivals and Departures, Australia, Jun 2013

For those who are curious about stats, this may be interesting reading. I saw a newspaper run a story citing just how much overseas travel has increased over the last decade.

I found the following dataset for FY2012/13 interesting:

Reasons for departure - Australian residents departing temporarily
Conference/Convention - 3%
Business - 10%
Visiting Friends and Relatives - 23%
Holiday - 58%
Employment - 2%
Education - 1%
Other - 5%

I suspect that this might be another way that AFF members are not quite representative of the typical traveller, possibly because despite many people's valiant attempts it is harder to be a frequent flyer just off the back of holiday travel.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They obviously need another column for those departing on status runs :p

I would assume that's where the other column comes into play... Although when I've done one I ticked business (and I ticked business on my arrivals card) and went into the office in AKL. I figured I might as well turn the status run into a taxable write off.
