Hi , Am First timer here , so please bear with me . Due to a lot of previous flying I have quite a few Frequent Flyer Points , I am really keen to use these points to travel on either a Velocity or Qantas Frequent Flyer program to secure a 1st Class seat on a Air Bus A 380 flight , basically on any destination in Asia back to Sydney.

However whenever I come across a flight which uses the Air Bus 380 it always states that 1st Class is not available , it even state this when I try and book a flight which is up 5 -6 month's away .

Would I be right in thinking that the Frequent flyer programs Velocity / Qantas do not release 1st Class Airbus A380 seats to be taken up by using Frequent Flyer Points .

I would welcome anyone's response or ideas on this. Thanks.

They do, but you have to book a year in advance for QF. Velocity you would be hoping to get on a SQ A380, and I'm not sure they release too many F seats to non-Krisflyer members.

Welcome aboard paul121, with Qantas you might need to book 350+ days ahead of time. And yes you can get first class tickets on the A380, been there done that.

In six months time you're in January 2014 which is school holidays, pretty hard to book anything at that time.

Hi , Many thanks for your responses , I am looking to travel back from Asia end of March 2014 , but so far no luck , and a real learning experience on how the whole F/F point system works , or does not as is often the case, have spent (wasted) heaps of time trying and it seems like one step forward 3 steps back.

If it is currently stating non availability , does that mean that the seat's have been totally taken out of the program , or is there a chance they may be released later maybe a month or so down the track.

I appreciate possible hard to call , but just an idea would be good . Cheers

Paul121 Welcome to the forum

Please confirm you have points banked with Qantas & Virgin Velocity (Australia). With QF you can phone and they will search for you (for a fee in points when booked)
Do you have status with any these airlines ?
Is the date of travel flexible ?
