Hi. I've just discovered that Citibank no longer award FF points for ATO payments (just after paying a large BAS bill) What Credit cards still give FF points for ATO payments. Thanks for the help.

As well as paying the ATO by credit card which gets me lots of points, I have just made all my staff super payments via credit card. Just need to wait and see if this also earns me some points. Don't see why it shouldn't as they are all BPay payments.

Before I pay the ATO or the Super Funds, I put my CC into debit mode ie have a debit balance on it.

should that be a credit balance, so it is fully paifed up and in credit for the amount of your BpAY transactions before you do them.i have many clients who ask me for our banking details so that they can "direct debit to our account", whereas the term should be "direct credit"

I understand the point you are making and agree. Terminology - what can I say? It's like people say ing PIN Number which is also incorrect. But I think most would better understand when I say "debit mode" meaning that I am using it as a debit card not a credit card.

Did you end up getting the points?

Sorry FuzzyAUS, I checked my account and did not get any points for the super payments. I find this odd as I earned points for other BPay transactions made for example paying for repairs to my Ultrabook.
It was worth a try.

I was just looking at this as I was about to pay an Australian Super payment. I think it does not earn points on bpay because if you look up the biller code on the bpay website it says

This Biller accepts

  • Cheque, Savings or Debit Card

I think they need to accept credit cards to earn points.

Last time i tried to use the post billpay option but the post office would not let me use a credit card to pay which ended up being a pain.

Slightly OT but I thought this would be a good place to post this-

Am I the only business owner that sells things to himself only to return the item for a refund?

I do about $5k a month earning me ~7500 points. When I return the item I process the refund into my debit card. A great way to earn about 100K points a year and no surcharge! The merchant fee is worth the points earn.

My business has a 7 day no questions asked refund policy for "Platinum" members of which there is only one - me!

I think previous mentions of running things through merchant accounts of related parties (self, friends, etc) has seen warnings of loss of merchant account if discovered.

Perhaps the refund to debit card will make it harder to detect, as I don't know what the triggers for being found would be.
