Its that time of the year again, wonder if we will hear of any orders from QF, although its not normally something they do?

Is it too late for the 'words' Boeing 777 to pass Alan Joyce's lips?

Yes but perhaps we could hear the words A350? LOL

I think we have more chance of getting B787 before QFi gets any where near a QF 777

It's about 2 weeks too early I think? :P

I am not sure what to expect from QF. If they are still struggling to make money then it would seem unlikely they would go on a capital spend for QFi just yet. The problem is the 747s can't go on forever and some will need to go in the medium term. But it is unlikely the likes of the A350-1000 or 787-10x will be ready in a soon enough time frame for QF...and those 180-odd NEOs they have on order are sucking up a lot of capital. Perhaps they shift some of these to A350-1000s? But who knows when these will actually arrive - at this stage the 787-10x would be the safer option considering the 787 is in service. But again, too little too late?

That said, I still believe the EK alliance will deliver more to QF than a few passengers, if you catch my drift...

Why does QF want 180 A320 NEOs?

They dont but JQ do for the Asia Growth programe. It now stands at 78 on order for Qantas no note of JQ. Thought they were different entities? Or is that just when it suits them?

Apologies, the 1 shouldn't be there.

However the A320 NEO order is for JQ/3K fleet renewal and expansion. Some were slated to go to RedQ however...well we know what happened to that idea.

QANTAS Group. Not QANTAS.

I think they always lease for the tax benefits. Do any airlines actually buy their own airfleet?
Yes they do, someone else will be able to explain this clearer but I recall some discussion on depreciation rules in Australia being quite harsh for airlines.

First day of the show sees more A320NEOs (ILFC) and E jet orders announced, apparently Airbus are confident it will be their show vs Boeing!
