I've always thought VA/ANA hookup would be good. Maybe then shared a330/787 services MEL/BNE-NRT > korea, Vladivostok , north china & Mongolia

Should do SYD-HND instead. HND is a significant advantage than NRT being much closer to Tokyo.

I was just about to ask about direct services Australia - Japan. There only looks to be QF, JQ & JAL. Early next year I'm flying back to Australia from Japan via Singapore on SQ A380. I'd love to be able to go direct via VA.
