We're excited to announce that we're currently expanding the Qantas Regional Lounge in Broome. The expanded lounge will offer additional space for you to relax, refresh and work prior to your flight.

Features will include furniture and colour schemes in line with existing Qantas Regional Lounges, wireless internet, newspapers and magazines, and premium refreshments including a selection of food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The lounge expansion will increase the size of the existing Regional Lounge on the mezzanine level next to check-in.
The lounge will be closed for the duration of construction, and it is expected to re-open in the third quarter of 2013.

Our ground team in Broome will be available and happy to offer further assistance.
I'm not so excited by this news as I will be off to Broome next month...would QF hand out food and drink vouchers to those who would normally be entitled to enter the Broome QC? or are we expected just to "suck it up..."?

Creating a new lounge experience in Broome

They will give you a 15$ voucher at checkin. I told them it didn't make sense to give a WP ONLY 15$. She reluctantly gave me 2 vouchers...

Not bad news though in general. The current lounge is barely big enough to swing a cat in and isn't exactly readily noticed if the check-in staff don't tell you where it is or offer you the door code.

I didn't see "cat swinging" on the list of new amenities, though!! :p

BD

When travelling through Broome for work I don't think I have ever spent much time in the lounge (or "loungette" as is more correctly should be described). It would be a very small cat to be able to be swung in there and anyway if you want to use the bathroom (one of the main reasons for using lounges - they are generally clean and quiet with no queue), you have to relinquish your hard-won seat, descend the stairs, beat your way across the hordes to the public loos.
Any improvements can't come quick enough IMO, an opinion probably helped by the fact that I don't think I will over that way in the near future anyway.

Just flew out of BME on Wednesday. As someone else mentioned, you receive a $15 to use at the cafe there. Not bad I though...until I saw the cafe prices! Wish I would have thought to go ask for another voucher.

@Broome airport now....As QF plat was only given ONE $15 voucher to use at the airport cafe in lieu of the lounge being closed for renovation. When I pointed out I was travelling with another adult and 2 children that I would normally be able to guest into the Qantas Club if it wss opened, was refused sny further viuchers even after spesking to the local airport manager. ...said this was what QF directed them to do ie guests were not entitled to a $15 voucher! It is QF penny pinching rubbish like this that puts me off them...I wonder how much I have spent the last few years with Qf to reach Plat level....

Reply from QF to my complaint:
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience in Broome. I appreciate that the situation there is currently far from ideal whilst we work with the airport authority to provide a new larger and improved Qantas regional lounge in Broome and I’m sorry it didn’t meet your expectations. I will speak with our development team and I’m sure that we will be able to improve the situation swiftly
