I have a flight coming up. LHR to HK on BA, a 4.5hr layover, then on to Sydney on QF. These are on different tickets. BA purchased through Amex travel, The QF leg is a JASA I booked online.

What will I have to do with my bags and boarding passes? I don't imagine they will be able to send me or the bags all the way through from London as the legs are on different tickets. Will I have to pick up at the carousel and recheck inside the baggage hall and then get boarding passes form the lounge, or will I need to get my bags, go outside and rechekin for the Sydney leg?

thanks

terry

Actually you can check your luggage through as they are oneworld!

Terry where have you done most of your flying to qualify for WP?

Your bags will be checked through to SYD, and you should get both boarding passes at LHR, as its all on Oneworld

Thanks, guys. I was kind of hoping the OW hookup would work. I'd never heard of a PNR before I came on this site, and that was making me worry!

If you have the worse case scenario where your luggage is not checked through for whatever reason just take note that at HKG airport there is no need to clear immigration and collect luggage to check-in again. Just go to transfer counter and show them your luggage receipt along with your boarding pass for next flight and they will automatically transfer luggage to new flight.

I have done this a few times when I have had flights on 2 different itineraries (CX -> VS) and they would not check luggage through.
