So was looking at booking a PE ticket from SIN-CBR. I know that only QF5/QF6 have the option, but was surprised to find that all of the flights offered PE with the warning that both flights would be in economy. It seems wrong that QF offer this, even with the warning. Has this always been the case? I thought they usually only did this if at least one leg was in the class specified?

It's been the case for a long time. Any you only get that for return trips. If you booked a 1-way CBR-SIN at least 1 leg will be in PE.

The choice then is up to you.

Ok thanks. Must just not have noticed it (rarely travel in PE).

Just checked a 1-way and the same thing happens. I'm surprised that you can book a return at PE rates without having a single leg in the cabin!

I tried a 1-way CBR-SIN for your dates and there was always a PE cabin on the international leg.

Interesting, maybe it's something to do with the Singapore site, since I'll be booking from SIN to CBR (another thing I don't do very often)?Capture.JPG

Yes, the SIN site is not behaving like the AUS site.

The only flight that has PE is QF6, and its showing as bookable, although obviously the CBR leg is still not PE.

I get this same thing when booking Mel - BKK via SYD. Last time i was searching fares i saw PE option was available again as its Been Business and Economy only for some time now, and got somewhat excited a 747 may be back on this route (not sure where one would have appeared from though! ) and same thing, return both ways is a a330 on a Premium Economy fare, with all economy right the way through. Strange

Try again? I just re-tried CBR-SIN return and now only QF5/QF51 and QF6 are offered (ie onlyint flights with PE). Qantas has 'fixed' it already (the AUS site anyway)?

I think the whole notion that they even offer it if the most significant flight is not showing the requested class is pretty ordinary.

Sure, for connecting flights from BNE/SYD/MEL to CBR, if the higher class is not available (esp with Dash 8's been used) that shouldn't remove the option all together, but the idea that a flight where the longest leg is in a lower class than expected (eg the SIN-SYD component of a SIN-xSYD-CBR) then that's pretty disgusting that the offer was even made IMHO, because I do wonder if more than the one or two people have been caught out thinking they where getting a higher class (and in some cases paying for a higher class) to find out they are actually in Y.

I think the consensus in these threads has always been that it needs to be made clearer that some or all of the journey is not in the class searched for. I know that's what the exclamation mark is for, but perhaps a banner nearer the top of the page would also help alert customers to things.

To note that earlier today, a booking CBR-SIN return (or MEL-SIN return) showed many non-PE options for the international sector. But now it doesn't. Qantas seems to have changed this today!

I know that only QF5/QF6 have the option

Only on the days when the a/c is a 747. No PE on the days when QF5/6 are on a 330. Which just makes offering PE prices with the exclamation mark even more misleading IMO.

Many have been saying for years if the correct flight is not there do not show anything.
