Trying to book a HKG-SIN-BNE-SYD-CBR (yes, why fly direct when you can connect) on the HKG site.
I really want to fly on CX691 / QF52 / QF8, however the QF HKG website is only letting me have 2 of these 3 options.

I can either fly on CX691, spend a day in SIN, then back on QF52 and transfer to a DOM BNE-SYD, or I can fly on CX735 which then lets me also select QF52 and QF8 (so it is a valid connection), whilst this means my exit and entry port again becomes SYD, I don't exactly get the day in SIN that I am also after.

No I don't want to fly SIN-SYD direct (The thought of flying on an A330 when there are B747 options is very unpalatable to me).

If I call up QF AU will they allow me to do the booking using HGK prices or would I need to call QF in HGK?

Any suggestions?

Bookable on Expedia for $1200 as a one way.

I should probably clarify, looking at 18th (HKG-SIN-BNE) / 19th (BNE-SYD-CBR) of July

I am doing something similar soon, but MH J A380 HKG-KUL-SIN (~$480AUD one way) then SIN-MEL on QF Y A330 on separate multi city ticket.

Ended up calling QF, the reason why I could only select two of my three preferred flights was thanks to a fare class condition being enforced by the website. It took her a little while but was able to overwrite it and ended up putting a booking together for me. So have got CX691 / QF52 / QF8 (all B747's which if you know me you know will make me happy), which means I'll get to spend the day in SIN (never been there before so looking forwards to it), plus fly on my preferred flights (read: my preferred aircraft type) :D.

So the upshot of spending the time and not accepting the defaults is that I've been able to secure CBR-SYD-HKG-SIN-BNE-SYD-CBR, for the same price as a CBR-SYD-HKG vv, I've been able to squeeze in a side trip to SIN, I've been able to part with some FF points (not just lottery, but actual in the hand J seats) and get two of those legs in J (my CBR-SYD and SYD-HKG), I've been able to get the dates I've wanted and the flights I've wanted, and really all it took was an hour on the phone with various QF reps... :D

The even better part is I'm earning J SC's for CBR-SYD-HKG :D

What's the bet you end up on a last minute sub with CX (read:330).?

That is always a risk (although with the CX flight, I chose it because of timings, the fact it was a B747 is simply a very happy coincidence), I'd be a little bit more annoyed if my first flight (QF127 a few days earlier) was changed as it's a J flight...

Out of interest, how much did this cost? And how we're you able to upgrade?

The total cost for all this was $1,300 + 60,000 points, far less than the cost of getting a decent suit made here in CBR (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it, had one made over there a few years ago and it was by far my best suit). The CBR-SYD-HKG J legs have been booked as JASA's.

I could have gotten it a little cheaper by dropping off the SIN stop over (but then I wouldn't get an introduction to Singapore) and I could have gotten it a little cheaper again (but not by much) had I simply booked the standard CBR-xSYD-HKG-xSYD-CBR as a red-e-deals (In that case it would have been $1,100). So for basically $200 + 60,000 points, I'm getting some flights in J (seats and SC's), and I'm getting a side trip to SIN.
