The passengers taking thier carryon bags with them............I shake myhead. I know Russia doesn't have the best safety record but surely they would have some safety briefing to explain the rules of an evacuation.

\\No different to travelling in Asia Google Cathy Emergency Evacuation to see women with high heels passengers with multiple carry on items being carried with them as they travel down the slide.

Indeed they cant even get passengers to sit down during the initial climb or final moments of landing. having flown in Russia I felt safer on S7 than on Dragon Air

I reckon we'd see similar on an evacuation in Australia.

Actually I think you are right.

I have just finished reading the QF32 book and one of the things that was mentioned on the evacuation in SIN, one Aussie tried to leave the aircraft with a carry on bag (a roller, not a small bag). He argued with the CSM and said "what are you going to do about it". The CSM then took the bag from him and threw it down the aisle. Great work from the CSM to be honest but yes, I think the attitude would probably be the same.

If people show up at the door with hand luggage no point in taking it off them and cluttering the exit or even arguing with them. I'd think best to push them on their way as quickly as possible.

I'd also be interested to know why in the Moscow incident the over wing exit was used when that was where the fire was. The incident report might make interesting reading.

I also imagine that whatever pre-take-off safety briefing is done fear takes over and things happen that are contrary to a speedy and efficient exit.

Who actually orders an evacuation, as looking at the video it would seem the passengers would have been safer to stay on the plane.
