Hi all.

I am 17K points short in my AA account for a flight redemption.

I have already bought the full quota allowable on AA for 2013.

I think I can buy Starwood points and convert them to AA points. The site is down at the moment, so I can't confirm is this is an option or what the price would be.

Are there any other options I can look at?

Thanks, pw.

You can buy SPG points and transfer to AA.however just checked and the buy starpoints page is down for routine maintenence.Shouldn't be down for long and I think it is the easiest way.
If you have a DC those points can be sent to AA direct but still better via SPG.

Do points.com allow you to swap points or buy them off people???

AA does, which uses points.com for the transfer. $US30 + 1c per point. Annual limits apply, and there might be a tax component too (but don't recall)

you could always have a second account with AA (in a partners or friends name as they do not have to be relatives as with QF) and buy the points and transfer them to yourself. You can also join Club Carlson, buy 40,000 points for 280 dollars which you can convert to something like 6500 AA miles.
