Qantas press conference Monday - AJ

I'm throwing my hat onto something to do with routes, with QF metal going to Berlin or something around the 787 for QFi.

Formal public & media apology & subsequently abstaining from using the word 'Enhancement" under false pretences & under any present & future guise.

Isn't an A330 in the shop getting converted back from JQ....
Maybe new seats as well.

Thinks 787 option exercise is unlikely right at the moment given none are flying.

OR something to do with Jetstar's 100th aircraft (recently delivered with new decal) and maybe Jetstar Hong Kong launch??

Jetstar to finally gobble up QFi completely. Can imagine only too well AF putting his spin on it, "finally, two brilliant Australian brands under one profitable banner." *shudders*

Could be one of any number of things. Or a combination of many.

Suspect 330s coming back to mainline will be a major feature. Wouldn't be surprised to hear of 747F acquisition either, although they have been careful to stress limitations in capital costs lately, so who knows. Though I guess if there is money to be made they can justify the spend.

Think 777s are rather unlikely at this stage although a prominent leasing company did order 10 of the -300ER not so long ago. My wish is an A330 cabin refresh, Qantas cannot compete with the cabin they have in Asia...

Another piece in the puzzle.

This morning we received a 2nd Media Alert. This first one on Friday, just mentioned that "Qantas Group Chief Executive Officer, Alan Joyce, to hold a press conference and make an announcement. Further details to be provided."

Today's Media states "Qantas Group Chief Executive Officer, Alan Joyce, together with NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell and Tourism Minister, George Souris to make tourism announcement."

So the announcement will involve the NSW government. new runway in Sydney?

The moving of QF Link to same terminal as QF main and the ease of transferring to regional NSW perhaps?

Wouldn't this be the new partnership in Asia with a major Chinese airline?
QF has been hinting about this for a year and will tidy up the holes in QFI.
Naturally this would upset Cathay and British Airways is already upset with QFI but Emirates deal was better.

Yawn. Will likely now be a "Qantas spending to help promote nsw". As if they could be any more Sydney-centric anyway.

Follows on from dumping tourism Australia contract and stating they were to increase spending with state based tourism bodies.

I think you might be close to the mark , if it is now a joint presser with the BOF & Tourism minister

The a330 cabin refresh has already been announced.

Heard on the radio this morning that Avalon is due to become an 'international' airport in a deal with a Philippines low cost carrier, with daily flights to Manila..wonder if this has anything to do with their announcement?

They'd have the press conference in MEL with the VIC Premier and Tourism Minister then, not NSW...

And Avalon is for Cebu Pacific to fly to Manilla.

Based on admin's post,
Think it will be just a deal with Tourism NSW (or nsw.com or whatever they are calling themselves),

replacing the former deal with Tourism Australia that got jettisoned.
