The totally off-topic thread

This is about as off topic as you can get,a friend sent me this today,I must admit it bought a tear to my eyes,it's a great story which may be true.

Amazing True Story...

I've heard this story countless times before.

Whether it's true or not is rather irrelevant. The story has a wonderful moral behind it.

Swimming is good, it seems for you non-weight-bearing exercise would be the go. Aquaerobics is a gentle way of getting some cardio activity.

I was going to say the same thing :D

Its not necessary to avoid bread/pasta/rice, just make sure you measure your portions, either with scales or a measuring cup. It really opens your eyes to just how much you should be eating.

Swimming or general exercise in the pool is terrific. I swim most days & see people of all shape, sizes & age getting into it.

I have favourite regulars - two girls. One aged 92 who knocks out 600m three times a week & another confined to a wheelchair....she wheels up to the side of the pool, gets herself in the pool, positions a leg float between her legs & then proceeds to knock out about 2 laps for every one of mine:shock: I'm not fast or slow at 20mins per Klm however, this girl gets in the water and just glides.

Both are great inspirations!

Huh!

* It was sent yesterday by my father and Australia Post do not know the whereabouts of the package. Apparently someone called home this morning wanting to verify the address. It has a prescription (I left it in Sydney on the weekend) for a very expensive drug which I ordered from pharmac_ and cannot collect without the original. I am leaving Toowong ~2:00pm tomorrow and am not holding my breath.

** Why does life take great pride in kicking me in the guts at every opportunity?

As long as it has been addressed correctly, there is a claim by your father against AP for at least the cost of the bag.

You normally just pray that the next day it is. Even if you can prove they dropped the ball, the "compensation" is your next Express Post Platinum is free. Woo freaking hoo. (Yes, that reads as your next one is free; it is not a refund).

Fortunately, I've had to use the service about a half dozen times, and it's always worked. Never sent a critical prescription in the mail before, though.

I think it is addressed correctly.

JohnK, Level 12, write your street number here, street and suburb here, Queensland. It must have come up as an invalid address in their stupid database and then waited until 11:00am the next day to verify instead of sending off to Queensland and letting them sort it out.

According to Express Post tracker it is still in Strathfield, NSW.

And yes Anat0l, the fine print on those terms and conditions to me is just garble. Atrocious service and I will try and get a refund.

Only the sender has claim to a refund from AP. Yes annoying.
I know. My parents sent it and the service received atrocious. And yes I do realise they get it right 99.1254% of the time and that means nothing to me as they got it wrong this time.

Still hoping it arrives tomorrow before I leave.

Platinum next day didn't work for me either. The cost of the postage is kind of irrelevant as its the service you want. Also their online tracking is useless.

The tightening of background checks for purchase of firearms in shows and on the Internet has failed in the USA. Seems pictures of murdered five year olds weren't enough to convince them there were issues.

The gun lobbyist's argument would be that such images are justification for MORE gun ownership - to stop such things happening in the first place. Its a bizarre, somewhat perverted sense of logic.

As they would say, Go Figure. I use that quite a lot with reference to USA society. So much cognitive dissonance in that culture.

It was not delivered the day after either.

I find the argument that they need to be armed to protect themselves against the government even more bizarre. What sort of democracy has armed insurrection as a legitimate form of change?

England was their original Government and they fought the Revolution over it.

Ooh, it might end up on instagram then. As long as he doesn't tag you!

Doctors are pretty weird hey? Well, unless they are AFF'ers and even then.... :)
