Last August I stayed at the Crowne Plaza on the Gold Coast for 3 nights. I had problems sleeping all nights and woke in the middle of the night with my lower back aching.

I have never injured my back at work or socially.

I was just wondering, if the next time I went to a hotel, if the bedding is old or too soft can I request a mattress swap?

I think you are worrying about nothing ;)

Had a similar problem with Crowne Plaza in Newcastle. Got up and slept the rest of the night on the sofa. On check put I requested that i don't sleep in that room or similar again. Didn't seem to be a problem to them and have not stayed in that room since. I am a prority club member so i think it was added to that.

Just ask and you should have no problems, if you get the room again just ask for a different one, they usually can make the change.

I have often asked for a different room if there is too much noise, my wife is a light sleeper.

How do you know it was the mattress?

I prefer a firm mattress and noticed the mattress was at least a medium or a soft.

I need to change over my current mattress and have slept on a new bed in the spare bedroom if without a problem.

I didn't make the connection till I slept on a new firm mattress.
