Points upgrade on sale fare

hi

I know that on a sale fare it says you cant upgrade but in the past (over 12 months ago) friends of mine have received emails offering to let them upgrade.

I am a platinum frequent flyer and was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them recently on international flights and what you would think my odds would be?

I was hoping to use points to upgrade to business as there are no awards seats available around the time I want to fly.

As a Platinum you can ring and ask them to release an Award seat for you.

yes looking at the qantas website now that seems to only be a platinum one thing.

I did it using my WP status for my in laws a couple of months ago so we could be on the same flight Mel to LAX and 2 award seats were releases even though it was showing no availability - so def worth calling WP customer service. Good luck!
