So am currently in the Syd F Lounge, and have never seen it so busy. I am on the Syd-BKK flight and it seems the lounge is struggling to handle this extra number of passengers with a wait list of 9 tables for the restaurant and almost all of the lounge seats full.

Staff are excellent as always and doing a great job, but can see they are stressed and that maybe an extra couple of hands in the morning could help at a minumum!

One retimed flight will not make that much difference, more likely school holidays.

Ahh thats what it is Markis! Thanks haha, did seem more family like than business person like! Guess i am going crazy!

Not exactly OT, but using the SYD domestic J lounge late morning midweek recently I was struck at how few pax actually fitted the 'business' man or woman stereotype. Vast majority were family groups, most of the remainder casually dressed. Only a handful dressed as one might expect for 'business' purposes (either suited or business-casual). Mind you, I was returning from a lengthy business trip and I was definitely dressed 'casual'.

I know the title 'business' to the lounge is more one to up-differentiate it from the other lounge, rather than labelling the occupants, but it really seemed somehow odd. Not bad, mind you, just perhaps a statement on the number of WPs out there.

I thought it was school hols too :) but friend told me they don't start until 13 April for NSW?

If everyone brings a guest lounge gets busy very quickly....
And couples travelling together will often come to the lounge earlier than businessperson traveling by themselves.

I'm sorry but business relates more to class of travel than reason for travel.

No need to be sorry :). I was meaning the name of the lounge - 'Business' - I was saying that (IMHO) - it was called 'Business' lounge not because it was meant for 'business' travellers, but that it was a different / better class of louge product. In fact 'Business Class' of travel means much the same thing. So we are in furious agreement? :D

I think you will find that most people who travel for "business" tend to do so on the early morning flights and later evening (though I get a 5Pm flight home after a two day trip). Obviously this is not universal but if you pass through at 6:30AM all you see are suits (and the occasional Hi Viz ;))

True NSW holidays start at the end of this week but other states have been on holiday so people might be travelling back.

Or pax like me who are leaving ahead of the official start of the holidays due to award availability.

I'm a WP and haven't worn a suit in 6 months.

Having said that, you won't find me in the lounge mid-morning either (Saturday perhaps excepted). Most of my flights are before 9am and after 6pm.

More to do with time of travel - the J DOM lounge in Sydney is 99% suits when I'm there (Mon/Tues 7-8am)

Hi-Viz? ;P

Nope. I'm an IT geek. I'm currently sitting at my desk wearing jeans and a polo shirt :)

(and you'd be surprised at the number of IT people I know who are WP - most of whom wouldn't be caught dead in a suit.)

Hahahah, even a polo shirt seems a bit much doesn't it? :P

I know a few people in IT and they'd turn up to work in PJs if given the chance and cringe every time they see a suit!

I'd be happy if our IT guys actually did some work rather than worrying about what they're wearing.

Somewhere in between would be nice and preferably not listening to the "flip, flop" noise all over the office.

If they did some work occasionally that would be a bonus.
