Codeshare agreements with majority owner Etihad to Japan and China via Abu Dhabi have been implemented. “We are working on codeshare connections to India and, I hope, in two to three months we can also establish a codeshare with Virgin Australia to cover the total Australian market,” Gregorowitsch said.

The world of alliances is a very murky place at the moment. I'm personally kind of fascinated by how Etihad's stake in Air Berlin will play out over time - particularly as they merge their FF programs.

Murky indeed!

There is a strong ST flavour to that report - perhaps AB will jump ship, which would put some pressure on OW.

I imagine that OW meetings would be fairly brittle at the moment with the end of the QF/BA JSA and corresponding the BA/CX closer tieup, BA sponsoring QR into OW but QF going to EK, QF sponsoring MH into OW and then apparently dumping them - effectively leaving MH out in the cold. The only thing really holding would be the strong AA relationships with both BA and QF.

As well as AB working with both Etihad and AF/KL, you can add to that list QF working with China Eastern to set up a Jetstar franchise at CX's home base, LA's reluctance to bring TAM into OW even though the Latin American authorities have decreed TAM has to leave Star, CX setting up a partnership with NZ on NZ through to London...

Would be a shame if OW collapses. I find them to be a really good alliance for consumers.
