need to book a flight from BKK to HKT. is Bangkok Airways ok? Just need cheap internal flight. Thai Airways are also pretty good on price.

will have SYD - BKK - SYD on a separate booking. need to make sure I am back in BKK in the afternoon of departure date & time (1825) from BKK to SYD.

Are the internal flights reliable in terms of on time operation? how many hours slack would people recommend leaving? which internal airline is more reliable?

Thanks in advance.

I would fly Thai on this sector. Thai should be able to interline your baggage on to your flight to Sydney even if it is on a separate ticket. I would allow 2.5 hours connection time in BKK. That's just me though. TG fly many times a day on this route.

Thanks. will be stopping in BKK for a few days on the way in. The SYD - BKK - SYD portion is paid for by others. the coughet trip is my own expense.

I've flown both TG and PG (though several years ago) and they were both fine. No delays with either as far as I can remember. But you never know.

I flew Thai HKT-BKK a couple of months ago - took an hour to check in (they were the slowest queues I've endured for some time); flight departed half an hour late. It was scheduled to arrive at BKK at 15:50. By the time we collected our bags and got outside the terminal it was close to 17:00. I fared better on another TG flight the same month.

Also tried Bangkok Airways - no delays for our two flights with them, and at USM they even had an open-air lounge with free drinks and snacks even for people with no status!

The check-in queues at coughet are always bad December/January but should be ok again by now.

I've flown both Bangkok Airways & Air Asia on this route and don't recall delays with either. The free lounge (albeit basic) with Bangkok Airways is a nice touch even if you just use the free wifi and a cold drink!

Still very busy in coughet, inclusive of airport.
Outside Patong the bogans are few & far between, though it appears the Russians & Mainland Chinese have taken up the slack :mrgreen:
