Hi all

I was hoping to get some clarification on few things. I had some flights booked to Europe later this year and recently, all the bookings had to change as the event I am attending moved.

Now, what happened is that I ended up with the following flights:

Booking reference 1 : SYD-SIN with QF - this was booked separately
Booking reference 2: SIN – HEL – BUD with AY – this was booked while ago and had to be changed

My wife will join me and she ended up with only one booking reference SYD-SIN-HEL-BUD all with AY. The SYD-SIN leg is with QF, same flight as mine.

Now the questions are:

  1. I can request for upgrade using points under my Qantas login for the SYD-SIN leg. My wife can’t. Is this because my booking was done directly with Qantas and hers is under Finnair airfare with the Qantas flight being codeshare? Are there any ways of upgrading on this flight at all? At the airport? In the lounge? The rest of the flight is all in J so would be nice to have the first leg in same class if possible.
  2. When we are at the airport, despite the fact that we are on same flights, do I have to check in at Qantas desk and my wife at the Finnair desk ?

Thanks in advance.

1. Your wife will not be able to request a points upgrade as she is on a AY ticket.
2. You will both check-in at the QF desk
