HKG-CGK $605 in Y or $682 in J? The choice should be easy.

Both are return airfares with CX and the only difference is the J fare needs to from TPE so it is TPE-HKG-CGK-HKG and I will throw the HKG-TPE in the bin.

Is the J seats amd the extra SC worth my time given that I have no problem getting to WP but will never get to P1?

I think if you fail to board in TPE then the rest of the ticket will be cancelled.

I think winfred is referring to the final leg HKG-TPE. You're right of course that missing any leg except the final one will see the rest of the trip cancelled.

Just wonder if there is any way to have a stop over in HKG to save the final leg for a later repositioning trip?

For the minimal cost difference I say go for J. The extra SCs count for LTG and of course it is a much nicer way to travel.

Yes I can save the final leg for later use.

Extra SC is good but the extra 6 to 7 hours?

That is a personal cost and whether it is worth it or not is something only you can answer. When I travel in that region it is on personal travel and depending where the time is spent could make use of it with a quick trip to town or doing some lounge hopping.

Depending on the time of day and what else you have on the 6 - 7 hours could easily be justified - I would catch up on a few movies and TV shows that I had missed, write a trip report or, heaven forbid, do some work...
