QF's Asia announcement

I thought some time ago that QF would eventually be reduced to a domestic carrier with a couple of A380 flights to LAX/DFW and to LHR via SIN. Other than the SIN being transferred to DXB, things still look to be on track.

Yep everything is on track!

SQ adding a 4th daily MEL-SIN flight in July too so yes demand is not there

Ok, I've been thinking hard and I don't see how I can maintain my current business with QF.

I never wanted to fly via DXB or on Emirates. If I did I would have flown EK years ago. I was going to maintain my QF business by using the AY codeshare and I assumed that QF would have kept some codeshares with BA. Now that the AY codeshare is practically useless, I really have no option but to jump ship. A very sad day, I have been a loyal customer of QF for a very long time.

So here is the next question, when does QF leave OW?

At the rate that Qantas keep making changes they are soon going to have to build pre fabricated modular lounges that they can ship anywhere and set up instantly! I can't keep up, I don't know how QF do.

For me there is nothing really significant here, living in PER all my INT flights to Europe will be on EK anyway, except now they will be earning QF points & sc's. If I want to go to the USA I will probably go via MEL or SYD anyway! As much as QF has dropped its HKG and one of its SIN flights, their arrival times were bordering on tedious anyway, so no great loss.

CX will pick up the extra Asian business anyway!

Just received my flight time change notification for June:
* no change to my QF 5 SYD-SIN (though the aircraft will terminate in SIN and not go on to FRA)
* QF52 to BNE will now leave SIN at 19:55, instead of 21:25.

Both services remain operated by 744.

At least you are still going the same way just a different time. I just did a trial JASA for the alternative flights for us and they want 500,000 points. Just call us Qantas. You can't make a public announcement and leave people without a flight. Oh wait. Joyce did exactly that a few months ago, didn't he.

You're more likely to get an email, I would say, based on my experience. Which will contain details of your rebooked flights, and an invitation to call them if you want to discuss a different arrangement.

They will rebook you in J, just via a more circuitous route, unfortunately. They certainly won't leave you without a flight.

We've had emails about flight times being changed but this will involve two different flights so I'd be thinking a phone call. Just hope we keep J seats for no extra cost than we've already paid.

My travel agent just told me Jetstar are increasing their services Per-Sin to almost double daily. QF pull out and JQ take over.

This is Bullsh!t.

Just remember to take water to flush the toilet.

Adelaide now has no Qantas international services. Thanks Qantas it's nice to be appreciated.

That's the QF strategy!

How's Jetstar Asia's profitability going.....

EK continues to expand and make substantial $$$
SQ continues to expand but makes a far smaller $$

QF just continues to cutback and hand everything to J*

I think I predicted that QF would cease operating to FRA in April about a month ago.

I'm on QF5 in April, it looks like I'll be on one of the last QF flights to FRA...

It was on the cards considering that this was announced last week.

QF love to play the loss making card, makes you wonder doesn't it

I note with this announcement the amount of International Qantas flights flying out of Canberra has not changed.

As for the changes to Asia flights, I don't understand how QF can just continue reducing services the way it has. From what I can understand, QFi has abandoned ADL and PER and continues to abandon CBR and DRW. They have a flight a day from some cities to SIN and HKG, yet other airlines have up to 4x daily flights. If anything, shouldn't they be increasing services, perhaps adding a SYD-KUL service now that MH has joined OW.

Before we know it QFi will fly to SIN, DXB, LAX and AKL once every few days... and only out of SYD...

Maybe once a week service to those destinations? Would allow for QFi to operate one aircraft - imagine the savings on fleet capital costs, staff costs, fuel and maintenence!

Interestingly had a survey from Jetstar this afternoon which quizzed reaction to proposed enhancements to their Max package. I made the point that family do not want to travel on JQ any more than short 1-2 hr trips (certaily not PER-SIN). Flagged that reduction in QF servcies out of PER will mean i'll have to switch to other airlines once i finish current FF year and use my points later this year. Not i expect QF to listen to me being in Perth...

Virgin Australia's strategy is now to use Etihad for Europe/Africa, Delta for North America and Singapore Airlines for Asia, and remain out of one of the three airline alliances.

Qantas' response? Emirates for Europe/Africa, AA for North America and Jetstar Asia for Asia! All while supposedly being a committed member of oneworld.

Doesn't seem hard to see who's strategy is more appealing from my perspective.
