Complex and not as extensive as I had hoped.

Clear ploy to keep people away from booking MH to/from the destinations listed and instead book with the QF/EK alliance. The 0.75 earn in business and 0.25 earn in full Y on the selected routes is a particularly curious slap in the face!

I expect the QR earning table will look much the same when it comes out.

Just saw the table... almost the same price to go StarClass (or whatever it's now called) on JetStar via Singapore than Y on MH. Except for the hassle and additional travel time. Considering that QF sponsored MH into OneWorld, their earn rates are pretty disappointing.

Once you start the sponsor process you can't really change your mind. Even when your red herring falls by the way side. (Couldn't resist the pun :D)

Some of those earn rates could be considered predatory, anti-competitive behaviour.

IMO that isn't a "could be considered", that's a "is considered". To me that is predatory and anti-competitive behaviour! Everything is fine until you add Australia/NZ and Malaysia-Europe into the equation....

Wonder what the earning rates on other airlines are.

JL and AY gives some nice earning rates (except for the cheap tickets L/V/S)

Still waiting on other airlines to update their respective FF programs to show MH earn rates.

Then the 'icing on the cake" would be the very expected - I presume - the significant time lag in posting the minimal points

Can anyone confirm how to check the class when booking MH on-line.
My dummy booking states "hlfx1yau" - so I would suspect the "y" in here relates to booking class Y?

Heading to KUL (I go 3-4 times a year) in late Feb.

Option 1: SYD/KUL return on MH. Should equal 120 points (60 x 2) IF my MHFlex is a full Y fare. Cost = $1,520.
Direct flights, so about 8 hours each way.

Option 2: SYD/MEL/SIN/KUL to get there, all day flights and about $1,249 to get there with QF + JetStar Starclass and whatever I can get from KUL to Syd.
Cheapest MH flight back earning zero points on QF. Approx $500. $1,749 all up for at least 130 status credits (or 160 using a JASA for Syd/Mel)

I guess considering the significant hassle of taking 3 flights to get to KUL from SYD, a full Y fare is the way to go.

Thanks Qantas. Always good to see loyalty rewarded!

First letter is the fare bucket, so I suspect it's H class for the purposes of determining points earn.

Thanks - and bugger. So for $1,500 (SYD/KUL/SYD) I'm getting 60 points total and a handful of points. Might go back to the SYD/MEL/SIN/KUL option with JetStar...

You actually will get 200 status credits for SYD/MEL/SIN/KUL when flying business max - although the SYD/MEL and SIN/KUL are Y, you actually get it considered as J and get 20 credits per sector. I do this return flight 6+ times a year - is painful on the way back (I.e. 6 hours in the airport hotel).

I've done MEL/SIN on Jetstar Business Max a few times, but booked QF for SYD/MEL and Singapore for SIN/KUL as it cheaper and reduces the connection time. I've never attempted this in reverse - from memory it requires an overnight flight on JetStar. No status credits can make this bearable enough!

Very much in line with the QF "you're with us or you're against us" approach. This is in someways the opposite to the BA earn table (in terms of higher vs lower earning routes). It will be interesting whether, once the JSA with BA disappears, if the earn rates on BA's Kangaroo Route services will be realigned with the remainder of BA routes (25% in disc Y).

For comparison this is what is earned in Enrich:

F/A: 200% (vs 150% on QFF)
J/C/D/Z: 150% (vs either 125% or 75%)
Y: 125% (vs 100% or 25%)
B/H: 125% (vs 50% or 25%)
K/M: 100% (vs 25%)
L/V: 70% (vs 25)
N/Q/O: 50% (vs nil)

With MH's (current) superior burn rates unless after status credits, not a lot of value in MH for QFF's.

This is beyond ridiculous. Particularly that a SYD-LHR First Class fare on Malaysian earns 1/3 the points vs QF First (for QF Platinum).

Are QF planned/rumoured to be codesharing any Malaysian flights?
