Int from americas to Oz with domestic transfer - luggage allowance?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if that situation, say LAX - Syd - BNE for example.

3 check ins on the int leg, i assume then on the dom transfer i can continue with that 3 check ins as long as its the same ticket right?

Also an off topic question, is it possible to link my ticket with someone else who is flying from melb-syd-lax on the return trip when i am doing bne-syd-lax? just want to link the syd-lax leg obviously.

My cousin recently did LAX-SYD-BNE as a lowly NB and had both his bags go through with no trouble. Was queried about the second bag at the airport but it was quickly resolved.

Edit: Oh wait... just remembered that he paid for the second bag... so not sure whether his bag went through because he paid for an extra bag or because it was a continuation of the international trip. Sorry.

You *should* be able to 'link' the PNRs (I was able to link one BNE-SYD-MEL-BNE with a BNE-SYD-MEL), though call QF about that. As to luggage allowance, the international allowance will apply on the domestic sector in this case.

All the linking does is tell QF you are travelling together. You will not see anything different on your MMB page.

Everyone gets (minimum) two bags on trips between Aus and the US, even us lowly NBs.

If its all on the same ticket you'll be fine.

QF policy is to allow you to have the international sector's allowance on a connecting domestic flight that is within 24 hours of arrival of the international flight, even if they are on separate PNRs. This is stipulated on the Checked Baggage allowance page on the QF site.

I was booking SYD-MEL-SYD E class PNRs when the domestic sales were on, to connect to a MEL-LAX-MEL O class PNR as it was cheaper than a SYD-x/MEL-LAX-x/MEL-SYD O class single PNR to avoid QF11/QF12 being subbed for the 747 and had no issues doing this.
