I have a spare Qantas (International) Business Lounge invite and was wondering whether it could be used to access the lounge even though the passenger is not flying QF or any OW carrier. It just states "you are warmly invited to visit the lounge before your flight". Apart from the Qantas and OneWorld logos (at the back), it does not state specifically that you have to be flying on a QF or OW airline. Reason I'm asking is that I have a relative flying off on MH but has no status with them and they are not QFFs either. I don't want them to front up and be turned away, as it will be quite embarassing.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Without checking the Lounge T&Cs, I'd say its extremely unlikely that access would be granted. Boarding Pass would be asked for and without being a OW flight, I'd find it very hard to see the Lounge Staff lettingthe pax through. Question may be asked 'How did you come by this invitation?'

Ooh. Good point. The invite may even be confiscated prior to them being turned away! I suppose I can save it for someone who is flying a OW carrier who doesn't have any status further down the track.

Can we ask when the flight is?

Also presuming the flight is with Malaysian Airlines.

MH will be officially in OW from 1 February so you may well be able to utilise this.

On the basis that the passengers are not fruquent flyers this can be changed by simpley enrolling one of them. Depending on country of residencey or that of a close Friend, :D :D, you should be able to do this for no charge.

Why would the invite be confiscated? The passes may be given out for a variety of reasons, and don't have any reference as to who must use them. I think the only term is that they can't be on-sold.

Their flight is before Feb 1 unfortunately.

They're definitely not being sold. These lounge invites are different from the ones that you get from being a PS QFF. Those ones specifically state that you have to be travelling on QF or JQ.

Also more specifically a QF or JQ flight number, so if you were flying say with a BA flight number codeshared on an actual Qantas aircraft you wouldn't be allowed access.
