Gold Coast to Las Vegas non stop

Yes read that in the gold coast bulletin today.

Another pipe dream.

What is OOL capacity for aircraft and pax?

OOL seems to be mainly LCC so if Jetstar was thinking that could be a starting base.

I am not sure what the costs would be versing BNE or SYD.

It's not impossible, but still highly unlikely.
Scoot already has semi regular flights on a 777-200 to SIN with ~370 pax.
A three class 777-300ER is only slightly more than that.

I guess every council wants direct flights with certain areas.

Sunshine Coast would probably like direct NAN flights and also direct SIN flights as well.

Just before Christmas Scoot had a departure with 416 onboard!

I am assuming when the Orange Cancer gets the 787 , that it will have capacity to fly direct to the mainland USA . This then presents an opportunity for LAS being an option from Aust , and if loads may be a problem ... just throwing it out there ,....that they add SFO and do a round trip for example OOL-LAS-SFO-OOL , although I think SYD/BNE-LAS-SFO-SYD/BNE is probably a better & economical option . Similar to QF's SYD-LAX-JFK-LAX-SYD.

If JQ ever fly direct to the USA mainland from Aust it will be from either SYD or MEL sorry to burst people's bubbles.

I would not be so sure about that, QLD already has 25% of all North American visitors, and JQ seem to like staying clear of the better Qantas routes.

QF do not fly SYD-LAS or SYD-SFO so technically a different route. AJ does love flying the profitable routes with his low-cost baby however so never say never!

I think they would more than likely take up CNS to LOTFAP first, cannot see any airline going to direct to LAS for a long time, Macau would make more sense if they are chasing the gamblers.

most Aussie's prefer LAS over Macau. It's a very popular destination for Aussie's . Half the plane on syd-lax flights I've been on seem to be continuing to las.

Pie in the sky, would the Gold Coast really have enough passengers to sustain flights both ways as I would doubt there would be much US based business. (People in Vegas aren't going to decide to go to the Gold Coast for a holiday)

Double NYE celebrations anyone? OOL and somewhere in the USA? I also posted it on another thread on AFF.

I PM'ed Red Roo about ideas for a Double NYE AFF/QF event (or just open it up to anyone).

It's on my bucket list....

Agree... a pipe dream... I would think OOL would be doing this to pick up on USA tourists spending time in OOL.

From my understanding it is capable already to take the 787 . In the Master Plan an extension of the runway is planed in the next 5 years , which would as i understand allow it to take bigger a/c then it is currently , which i assume would include the 777.

OOL cannot handle the size of aircraft needed to fly this route safely.
