Had a good first EK experience from Sin-Dxb.... however my second leg seems to fall apart...

Check in.... WTF? I checked in online, went to the bag drop, told its okay for US flight. After 40 minutes, got up to the counter and was told to check in person...

1 hr 20min later was rushed through checkin because my flight was due to leave in 35mins.

Got to the plane.... usual slow taxi.... full power ahead then... Plonk. Plane slows down, we have an issue...

Plane sits on the side of the runway for about 30mins, taxis to an outside bay for an hour.... engineers come and studies the plane for another hour.... an annoucement is made that should be done soon... at this point some passengers are going ape. 2 hours later captain makes the call to disembark as the engineers have taken too long to rectify.

We get bussed to the terminal and tried to feed 470 Y pax at a restaurant and huge rush for food.

Original departure : 0830
Revised departure : 1700

Staff tried hard but was all over the shop.

Bahh I could do with some booze right now.

4.5 hours on the tarmac? NOT RIGHT. And this could be an example of the new QF higher standard?

Goodness - I hope they eventually treat you right!
