Virgin - Aircraft Toilets

I fly Virgin fairly regularly and quite often on the Embraer aircraft. Whilst I can fully appreciate that Virgin are upping the ante on its premium product, I find it extremely frustrating that for flights with only two toilets (one front, one rear), that use of the front toilet is prohibited to the 'main' cabin and is only available for use to the business class cabin - which is quite often nowhere near full (well on the flights I've taken anyway). Recently, there were 2 people in the business class cabin (seats 6) and a pretty full flight in economy - for which only one toilet was available - making for a long wait for some people. I get the premium product idea, but really, does the exclusive use of a toilet make for a better flying experience in business class? Do business class passengers really care if someone seated in economy uses 'their' toilet? Just thought I'd throw it out there to see what fellow travellers think .....

Its a good point, 1 for 6 versus 1 for 92 is a big difference.

The rule isn't there to preserve the forward toilet for the exclusive use of premium class passengers, it's so economy class passengers aren't walking through and queuing in the premium cabin. Some of those Shazzas and Dazzas are decidedly lower class.

It makes a difference with the foot traffic through the cabin more than anything, business is meant to be a more private and comfortable way to fly - part of that would be toilet queues as well.

Although, the practicality of such a system must be questioned on the E190s IMO considering the toilet situation.

Oh cough, sorry, I actually didn't realise this topic had already been done to death - my apologies. Cancel the onslaught, I'll search through the topics and gauge opinions that way. I've flown both Y & J and IMHO, I really don't have an issue with those in the main cabin using both toilets - especially where there are only two toilets on board. Just my thoughts anyway.

But perhaps a system where Y pax could use the front loo, but also be pipped for it if a J pax suddenly wanted it. I don't mean if there's someone already in there, but a way to jump the queue. I don't think Y pax would appreciate this, so it's just easier to say no.

I am sure I read somewhere that business class on this aircraft was buyer beware.

He never mentioned that you also get premium toilets!!

So really you get three seats. Two seats per pax pus a decent share of a toilet seat!!

Yep, I'm sure this is it, more than the perception of exclusivity to the facilities. Pax are known to mill about in the business section, or even sit in vacant seats whilst waiting.

Probably the aircraft is too small in reality to accommodate a 'proper' J cabin or experience - a subject also well covered in various threads.

One thing that makes for a non-premium experience is having to wait for a queue of 3 or 4 Y passengers for the toilet when in row 1. I don't really care if they stand there, but having to wait for them, or feeling like I have to wait; not premium. In the 3 minutes before start of descent after the announcement I want to go to the toilet and pack up my stuff. I should be able to do that, that's part of the business package, IMO. When I'm in Y I adjust accordingly and do that stuff 10-15 minutes early.

The good thing about having Tiger and the orange cancer is that it quarantines the Shazzas and Dazzas on to those planes and away from QF and DJ.

Just as whY passengers don't appreciate J/WP/OWE pax what they deem to be 'queue jumping' which is actually a thing call prioriity boarding. Gotta love those bogans who expect all the accoutrements premium pax are entitled to without putting the runs on the board themselves.

All of the Y pax trying to use the forward toilets on my two J flights in the E190s looked to the left (main door), cracked open the curtain to the right (galley), pirouetted 2-3 times, then went back to the rear of the plane to look for the toilet. Five separate pax did this over the two flights.

I have seen the odd person try to get into the coat locker on various planes.

On some narrowbodies the coat locker door only seems about 10% smaller than the front lav door, so that's understandable!
