first glance i thought jumbo with the 4 engines, then a380 because of the fuselage, thenas time went on i realisedit was an antonov, quite impressive, i saw my first antonov at the bicentenial airshow at richmond, but it was the big mof_

Its been some time since a loud new aircraft noise low and slow over my house at The Gap has brought me outside to check out. Very impressive at 2500' about to turn onto the RWY01 ILS over Mt Cootha. Spotters say its from Philippines.

An AN124 landed at PHE yesterday. I suspect it's this one and it's just parking up at PHE until it gets more work as it can park there cheaply.

Often carries mining equipment around, might have something to do with that.

An Antonov was at BNE again today as I spotted it from the freeway taxiing out about 1240.

Pity I had to keep my eyes on the road ad I would have liked to see it take off.

Conoco Phillips have used an Antonov to transport pipes from DRW to KUL previously.

It's a different one and did not stay overnight, headed to BNE, probably a fuel stop, they have a poor range when fully loaded.

Surely must be better than any BNE - BAC 'Ned Kelly" style parking rate!
Had a glimpse of it also today in BNE, parked off terminal. - ugly looking flugzeug.

Fair enough. I see them there pretty often, one was there for over 2 weeks last year. Someone involved with airport operations told me that's why the frequent PHE. A mate from a local heavy haulage company was saying they were called in one time to use one of their rigs as a tug because the AN124 wasn't able to navigate the tight airport unaided and the airport had nothing able to move it. Got a free tour of the plane too!

After a long visit to BNE she just left under an ADF charter callsign heading OS.
