Hello all,

I am very new to the world of all things FF and points so I would really appreciate some help.

I will be travelling a lot next year so have been trying to find reward seats on the Velocity website to get an indication of how it all works. I have logged in and clicked on 'search and book flights' and entered various date and location combinations. There has been 'no availability' for any of my combinations except domestic flights. Can you only see flights you have enough points for? I have a very small balance (50K) as I have only been a member for one month.

Apologies if this question has been asked many times before. If there is a good reference guide on how it all works, a link to that would be great.

Thank you and happy travels

Where are you looking to travel and is it on Virgin Australia metal or on a partner?

If it is a partner you may need to ring them. I booked a reward yesterday on SQ metal (SIN-SGN) and it required a phone call to get availability and then to book.

You should be able to bring up the available flights but it depends when you are travelling and where to. Remember with reward redemptions you have to book many months in advance. (although you can be lucky) Especially if you are flying long haul international. 50K points won't get you far however it may get you an upgrade.

Slightly off topic.. but any idea when/if availability on partner airlines like SG and VS will be shown on the Velocity site?

I know you can call up to book, but i like to just browse and see what my points can get me. Give's me encouragement to keep earning more :)

Hopefully with the update to Sabre, coming early next year! :)
