H Everyone, here's my trip report from a recent MEL-HKG-KHH-HKG-CNS-BNE-CTL-RMA-BNE-MEL
***** We interupt this trip report with a news bulletin *****
Birdstrike hits VH-SBG
So waiting here at Charleville airport for the 10.45 service to BNE via RMA, on landing the plane hits a bird.
plane lands safely and everyone gets off while we wait to board.
Multiple flight crews hop out and give it a once over, sadly the news isnt good, cracked prop, this plane isnt going anywhere.
So at this stage they plan to fly anyother plane in from BNE, complete with repair crew, tools and blade, to fix VH-SBG which will no doubt fly back to BNE another day.
(In the mean time, in scenes unlickely to be repeated in my life any time soon, a guy in a ute drives out onto the runway and unloads half a dozen shots from his best shotgun into the circling birds.) - I asume that this was done because im a WP, and reason 93, dead birds are the reason we fly. ;P
There was only a handful of us getting on, with a full flight from RMA, so we all get our numbers taken and we will get a call when we can leave.
One of the guys fishes out the keys from everyones cars from the rental car drop off box, and we head back into town, looks like a pub lunch for me.
The ground crew sensing nothing they can do, all head home for lunch, leavng the double flight crew and what appears to be 4 cabin crew (training flight???) sitting on the plane.
As for the rest of the trip, Ill post that when i get home, the new CX J, Dragon Air and of cource plenty of pictures when i get back (if i make it) to MEL.
