Air Asia - Steep prices for a LCC

So the worry is availability of cheap airfares?

I know this is about Air Asia X but I have left myself stranded in HKG in February and looking to get to BKK to start the next chapter of BKK-SIN-SYD returns. I have been looking at one-way airfares and Air Asia wins hands down on price including golf clubs, checked luggage, select 1D etc which is not normally the case. It ~AUD150 all in and the next cheapest is ~AUD400.

I hope I am not making a mistake.

I'm about to book HKG-BKK on EK in J for $350. I'd be inclined to do that for the sake of another $200.

IF it's not time sensitive, and you can afford to be ***ked about by missed or cancelled flights- YMMV.
Just Checked Air Asia X, and they have rejigged prices - having a promo of sorts, yet very steep . From asking full rack rate J fares for an LCC with harsh change terms was bound to be a looser strategy, so now they appear to wound down the wick to follow Jetstar who also silently dropped a few hundred off their 'wishful' prices dreamed up by PFY pricing droids.
If the Chinese airlines are nimble, I hope they are preparing an ambush on 'peak' prices.

I would as well. Is that on the EK website? I tried for ecomomy HKG-BKK in February on Skyscanner and the cheapest was around $400 one-way.
